Handcrafted by Zenrinbo, this piece beautifully marries two celebrated Japanese artisan traditions: Suruga bamboo work (Suruga Take-sensaku) from Shizuoka and a resonant Nambu iron bell (Nambu Furin) from Iwate.

Exquisite Bamboo Details

The protective cage features a unique conical silhouette reminiscent of Mt. Fuji. It is constructed using fine round bamboo strips, a signature technique of Suruga bamboo craft. The top plate is finished with a laminated weave combining traditional ajiro (herringbone) and nankin weaving patterns. To ensure structural strength, three layers of bamboo rings reinforce the base. The paper wind-catcher strip (tanzaku) features an elegant Inden-style (traditional lacquered style) dragonfly (tonbo) design, a classic Japanese motif symbolizing courage and forward momentum.
