Suruga Bamboo Craft Crescent Moon Single-Flower Vase
$97
A dual-sided single-flower vase handcrafted in Shizuoka, elegantly blending traditional Suruga bamboo craftsmanship with a modern white leather crescent moon motif.
Description
A Harmony of Modern Leather and Traditional Bamboo Craft
Handmade in Shizuoka by the workshop Ranrinbo, this unique ichirinzashi (single-flower vase) showcases the beauty of Suruga Takezaiku, a traditional Japanese craft celebrated for its delicate, rounded bamboo splints (maru-takehigo). This design introduces a contemporary twist by incorporating premium white leather in a crescent moon shape.
Dual-Sided Aesthetic
This versatile vase offers two distinct styles depending on how it is displayed:
- Modern Style: Facing the white leather side forward creates a chic, contemporary crescent moon silhouette.
- Traditional Style: Rotating the vase reveals the intricate structure of the sepia-dyed bamboo splints, showcasing classic Japanese craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship & Materials
The bamboo rings and splints are dyed in a rich, original sepia tone and finished with a protective clear urethane coating. To hold water safely, the vase includes a removable inner tube (otoshi) made of synthetic resin.
