Description

A Whimsical Sky Journey in Traditional Bamboo

Crafted by the Zenrinbo studio in Shizuoka, this stunning hot air balloon ornament showcases the delicate artistry of Suruga Sensuji Takezaiku (traditional Suruga bamboo craft). Characterized by its use of fine, flexible, rounded bamboo strips (takehigo), this traditional technique relies on carefully heating and bending the bamboo to create elegant, curved structures.

This balloon is meticulously constructed using 108 individual bamboo strips, each measuring just 1.5mm in thickness, shaped to form a robust, perfect sphere. The top ceiling of the balloon is decorated with genuine leather bonded to an ajiro-style (diagonal wickerwork) woven bamboo pattern. This top piece is connected to the hanging basket via 8mm wide leather straps, balancing traditional material with modern accents.

Versatile and Charming Home Accent

The detachable bamboo basket can hold small plush toys, figurines, or even a small LED light to transform the balloon into a gentle decorative lamp. Please note that the balloon is designed as a hanging ornament or mobile and does not stand upright on its own.
